July 2005
Hunter is looking forward to moving to his own apartment in August. We were able to locate an apartment close enough to home that we won't worry too much, but far enough away from home so Hunter can experience the freedom he so desperately wants. Hunter will live very close to our family friend, David, who will be an important part of helping Hunter transition and adjust to independence.

June 2005
Hunter has now completed his first year of college. We are very proud of his efforts, especially in math. With the help of our family friends, David Monson and Kurtis Smith, Hunter dedicated at least two hours a day studying algebra. It was quite a challenge for Hunter who has always struggled in math but with his extra efforts Hunter managed to get an almost perfect score on his last two tests! Hunter is committed to completing his AA degree as quickly as he is able and has enrolled in two classes over summer.

Besides attending college, Hunter continues to attend acting classes at South Coast Repertory Theater and finds time to do some community volunteer work as well. Hunter has also begun performing his comedy live on stage. He continues to hone his skills as an opening act for several local bands. Hunter hopes to eventually perform at local comedy clubs as well.

Hunter wrote this song with Dave Nachmanoff during a song writing workshop we had during late May 2005. This song is about Hunter's experience volunteering in the community as a tutor for elementary school students..

Everlyn’s Note
Hunter Silcock
& Dave Nachmanoff
March 25, 2005

I woke up one sunny day
But the sun meant nothing, though, not even one ray
And as I saw the crimson rivers in my eyes
I had to do the work that I despised

I help with “terea” but don’t make a dime
Sometimes it seems like I’m wasting my time
The kids keep choosing other volunteers
To run in circles was my biggest fear

CHORUS:
But with Evelyn’s note everything changed
Volunteering just isn’t the same
It showed me I was doing good
When I didn’t see that I could
All thanks to Evelyn’s note

Bridge: Butterflies, balloons, and green fences
And on the back she wrote
Thank you for helping me with my sentences
And she gave a little smile as she handed me the note

Now after that day, I enjoy going back
It seems that my vision is back on the track
Now every Tuesday rising with the sun
I know that volunteering will be fun

(Repeat Chorus)

Hunter graduated from Huntington Beach High School. He was able to complete high school in three years!! Hunter is now enrolled at Orange Coast College. He will begin his first semester as a full-time college student in late August. Hunter is very interested in politics and hopes to a major in Political Science throughout his college career. During his free time Hunter is volunteering with the Democratic Party of Orange County.

Hunter continues to pursue his interest in writing, acting and stand-up comedy. Hunter takes acting and improvisation classes through South Coast Repertory Theater. He is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and performs in movies and television shows. He hopes to do lives performances of his political satire.

Hunter is a very talented writer. He has also writing quite a bit of poetry, short stories, and songs. In April, Hunter worked with folk singer, Dave Nachmanoff, to put some of his songs and poetry to music. Hunter's songs will be featured on the Silcock Family CD that Dave Nachmanoff is currently producing. We are excited to hear the professional version of these wonderful and insightful songs.
