July 2005
Jordan did it! He learned how to ride a two-wheel bicycle. Pretty good
for a guy with hemiplegia, we are all very impressed. It took Jordan about three
days to learn after his training wheels were removed. Once Jordan put his mind
to learn something there is no stopping him. Jordan also recently became a BROWN
BELT in Tae Kwon Do!

June 2005
Jordan continues to pursue his acting career. In April Jordan appeared in an
episode of "Judging Amy." In this episode he had two small lines, because of
this he was required to join the Screen Actor's Guild. Jordan doesn't actually
understand the significance of a being an official SAG member but he does ask me
when he gets to work again. Jordan saves all of the money he earns in his Coogan
Account. This way Jordan will only have access to his money when he is an adult.
To hone his acting skills Jordan participates in
MYART -
Musical Youth Artist Repertory Theatre.
In the Fall, Jordan will begin rehearsals for the musical play, "Anna and the King of Siam."
Jordan also takes weekly commercial acting classes with Pamela Campus. Jordan is
considering auditioning for the All American Boy's Choir in the fall.
As Jordan wraps up his first grade year at
Perry Elementary School he is looking forward to participating in a few summer
camp programs. Jordan will spend a week with his friends at Camp Footprints. He
will also attend
Jay Nolan Camp
for the first time. This camp includes children with and without disabilities.
Jordan will also participate in the Special Camp for Special Kids program for one week of fun and the Dana Point Ocean
Institutes single day camp called "A Pirate's Life."
After summer Jordan will return to Perry School as a fully-included second
grader. We are proud of Jordan's academic progress. He is a wonderful reader,
sometimes too wonderful when he tries to read all the private mail on my desk!
Jordan still has some impulse control and focusing issues but overall he has
made so much progress, well beyond the expectations of most experts. Go
Jordan!!!

December 2005
Jordan
(8) recently auditioned for and then was selected to be a principal
performer in an up-coming McDonalds commercial. This is a "global commercial"
and will be seen all over the world. As a principal performer in this
commercial Jordan was given the royal treatment by the production crew. Jordan
had his own air conditioned trailer. Even better Jordan had someone bringing him
meals and snacks throughout the day. Jordan even had a teacher on the set! When
he wasn't acting, Jordan enjoyed talking to the women in charge of wardrobe and
make-up. Jordan
also enjoyed hanging out with the director and assistant director during the
two-day shoot. Jordan's co-stars in this commercial were the young woman of the
musical group, Destiny's Child. Jordan wasn't overly impressed with the members
of Destiny's Child,
like some of the other people on location. In fact, rather
than asking for her autograph, Jordan
was giving Beyonce Knowles acting tips! Be
sure to watch for the Jordan commercial on television in the near future.
October 2004
Jordan
began attending Perry Elementary School this school year. He is a fully-included
first grade student. Despite his attention issues, physical disabilities and
developmental delays Jordan has made incredible academic progress. Jordan can
read, write and compute basic math problems. He is able to function in a regular
classroom with only minimal support.
Jordan loves school and participates in all
of the classroom activities. Jordan receives professional tutoring at home
which provides Jordan the extra assistance he needs to develop his academic
skills. September 2004
Besides
school Jordan takes swimming and Tae Kwon Do lessons Currently Jordan is an
Advanced Blue Belt in Tae Kwon Do but is definitely focused on gaining his Black
Belt. Jordan has also learned how to ride a bicycle and a scooter. Every time he
visits his grandparents, Jordan can't wait to ride his bicycle that grandpa Jim
built for him. Although Jordan is becoming quite the athlete, Jordan’s real love
is singing and music. Jordan sings day and night, he especially loves show
tunes---I think this is Ann's influence on him!! :-)

For the past two years Jordan has been actively involved with MYART Children’s
Theater. He has performed in the productions of “Annie,” “Alice and Wonderland,”
"Sound of Music" and “Oliver!” Jordan can't wait to start rehearsals for
"Fiddler on the Roof." He hopes everyone can come out to one of his shows.
