Over the summer Kyle and Vita, along with Vita's sons, moved from the
condo to their house behind us. Kyle is enjoying the extra space in this
large house. He was able to take his dog and his cat with him to his new
home. We are enjoying having Kyle live so close to us. Kyle has had more
of an opportunity to hang out with his younger brothers now that we are
within walking distance.
Kyle
continues to enjoy his volunteer work with the SUCCESS Day Program. He is
often matched up with Hunter or Chris at their job sites. Its nice to see
the older boys working together to help and assist others in our
community.

Kyle is 27 years old and continues to live in his own condo in Huntington
Beach. He and Vita have been roommates well over five years! Due to Kyle's
high energy level and impulsivity Kyle needs support to live safely in his
home. Vita is working with Kyle to think before he acts and to make good
and safe choices in his home an in the community. We have seen some nice
improvement in Kyle's independent living skills since Vita began
supporting Kyle. Vita helps Kyle maintain involvement with the Deaf
community and in fact he is scheduled to attend a summer retreat for the
DEAF in August.
Kyle is a member of the
SUCCESS Day Program. He spends his
weekdays volunteering all over the community. Kyle's boundless energy is
well suited for this highly active day program. Kyle is often volunteering
at two to three locations in one day. Just recently Kyle started
volunteering to walk dogs at the local dog park.
Additionally Kyle
volunteers with animals at the Wildlife Center and the Westminster High
School Farm. Kyle is a real animal lover so these volunteer opportunities
have turned out to be some of Kyle's favorites.

Kyle (26) continues to attend Golden West
College as well as volunteer with several organizations. He keeps a very busy
schedule which suits Kyle well. Currently Kyle volunteers with Raccoons Etc..
This is an organization that places orphan baby raccoons with volunteers. The
volunteers bottle feed the babies until the babies grow strong and old enough to
be released back into the wild. Generally the process takes nine months.
Raising baby raccoons is a lot of work. The babies need almost constant
attention when they are awake. Kyle has learned how to make the raccoon formula
and also how to keep the raccoon living quarters clean and comfortable. Kyle
doesn't mind the work and is very proud to watch the babies grow and thrive.
Kyle also volunteers his time at the Ronald McDonald House near Children's
Hospital. He helps with housekeeping so the families staying at the facility
while their children are in the hospital have a nice place to stay. Kyle also
enjoys delivering meals to the elderly through the Meals-on-Wheels program. Kyle
loves to participate with the SUCCESS Day Program where he not only has lots of
opportunities for vocational training but he is able to hang out with other Deaf
young people. Kyle enjoys the opportunity to engage in activities that are
specifically for the Deaf. Kyle especially loves attending Deaf night at
Starbucks and the Theater for the Deaf.
Last summer Kyle spent a week in San Francisco
with his friends through the New Horizons YMCA program. Kyle also attended
a week Deaf camp with one of his brothers and several friends. Since
having opportunities to hang-out and socialize with other people in the
Deaf community Kyle has really improved his communication and social
skills. In his free time Kyle loves to go to the movies and to eat out in
restaurants. He also enjoys spending time with his family.
